Houston Food Bank Selects Rosterfy to Streamline Volunteer Management and Enhance Engagement

Houston Food Bank partners with Rosterfy to streamline volunteer management and boost engagement for over 90,000 volunteers.

Houston, TX – August 5, 2025 – Houston Food Bank, which provides food for better lives across 18 counties in southeast Texas, has announced its selection of Rosterfy as its volunteer management solution. The move is set to revolutionize how the organization engages, manages and supports its more than 90,000 unique volunteers who help serve more than one million food-insecure individuals.

Recognized as the nation's largest food bank by distribution with 600,000 volunteers on their database, Houston Food Bank works in collaboration with a network of more than 1,600 community partners, assisting thousands of individuals each week through their programs and services.

Previously relying on multiple platforms to manage volunteer operations, Houston Food Bank identified the need to consolidate systems and reduce the administrative burden on staff while enhancing the experience for volunteers. Rosterfy was selected for its ability to centralize processes, automate onboarding, and accommodate the diverse needs of a multifaceted volunteer program.

“We welcome a diverse community of volunteers—corporate teams, school groups, youth leaders, individuals, families, and dedicated community organizations,” said Brian Greene, President/CEO of Houston Food Bank.

Because each role comes with its own onboarding and training needs, we required a system built to handle that complexity at scale. Rosterfy stood out with powerful features that will streamline the process and, most importantly, create a better experience for the heart of our mission: our volunteers.”

With Rosterfy, Houston Food Bank plans to automate onboarding processes with customized workflows for specific volunteer roles. This will replace previously manual, disconnected systems—including Google Forms, emails, and spreadsheets—with a streamlined, integrated solution. The result will be significant time savings for staff and a more engaging experience for volunteers who will now have a single source of truth for their volunteer experience.

The decision to partner with Rosterfy follows a growing trend among major food banks globally to invest in volunteer management software, with Rosterfy recently announcing partnerships with FareShare & SecondBite, OzHarvest, and Maryland Food Bank in recent months.

“Houston Food Bank plays a vital role in the lives of so many, and it’s an honour to support the volunteers who make that possible,” said Shannan Gove, Co-Founder of Rosterfy. “Their team had a clear vision – to simplify operations, improve the experience for every type of volunteer, and build stronger connections across their community. We’re proud that Rosterfy will play a part in helping them bring that vision to life.”
