Make-A-Wish New Zealand has announced the selection of Rosterfy as its Volunteer Management System (VMS), marking a major step forward in supporting its growing community of volunteers who help make life-changing wishes come true for children with critical illnesses.
Volunteers are at the heart of Make-A-Wish New Zealand’s mission. Serving as local representatives across the country, they play an essential role in every stage of the wish journey. From meeting with wish children and capturing their unique wish ideas, to helping design and ultimately deliver those transformative experiences.
Today, the organisation has around 190 active wish volunteers, who will help deliver 240 wishes in 2025. They are supported by a dedicated Volunteer Support Lead who oversees recruitment, training, engagement, and recognition to ensure every volunteer feels valued, prepared, and supported.
Prior to adopting Rosterfy, Make-A-Wish New Zealand relied on several standalone systems to manage its volunteers, using separate platforms for registration, data capture, and online training. This fragmented setup created a highly manual process, requiring information to be updated and duplicated across multiple systems, making it difficult to maintain efficiency as the program continued to grow.
“Finding a fit-for-purpose volunteer management solution was essential for us,” said Lisa Pillai, Volunteer Support Lead at Make-A-Wish New Zealand. “With Rosterfy, everything we need now sits in one central place. The ability to automate actions across the entire volunteer journey means our team can focus on scaling the program and serving our community, while delivering a far more engaging and user-friendly experience for our volunteers.”
In addition to streamlining the recruitment and onboarding of volunteers, Make-A-Wish New Zealand will be using Rosterfy to help train their volunteers using the system’s in-built training modules.
“When looking for the right solution to support our volunteer journey, an end-to-end Volunteer Management System like Rosterfy stood out immediately,” Lisa continued. “Learning management systems are great for training, but they don’t support the full volunteer lifecycle. That broader capability was a key reason we chose Rosterfy.”
Rosterfy CEO Bennett Merriman welcomed Make-A-Wish New Zealand to its global community of nonprofits using the platform to deliver meaningful impact.
“We’re incredibly proud to support Make-A-Wish New Zealand and the volunteers who bring joy and hope to so many families,” said Merriman. “Their work is extraordinary, and we’re honoured to help them scale their program with automation, better data visibility, and a seamless volunteer experience.”
With Rosterfy, Make-A-Wish New Zealand is poised to deliver wishes more efficiently than ever, while continuing to ensure every volunteer feels connected to the mission of creating life-changing moments for children and their families.
