HeartKids, Australia’s leading charity dedicated to supporting families and individuals affected by childhood onset heart disease, is proud to announce its partnership with Rosterfy, global leaders in volunteer management technology. This collaboration will enable HeartKids to scale its volunteer program and extend its reach to support more Australians impacted by the disease.
With 250,000 Australians affected by childhood onset heart disease and related conditions, HeartKids plays a vital role in providing care and advocacy throughout the community with their volunteer program providing a steadfast source of assistance beyond hospital stays, helping individuals and families navigate life post-diagnosis.
By implementing Rosterfy, HeartKids will enhance its peer-to-peer mentoring model, enabling trusted volunteers—many of whom are former HeartKids or parents themselves—to provide invaluable support to families in need. This initiative will allow HeartKids to significantly scale its services and better address the needs of impacted Australians, particularly in regional areas where support has traditionally been more difficult to access.
“Today, we support approximately 8,000 families annually. With the help of Rosterfy, we will be able to expand our impact through peer-to-peer mentoring and additional care services, particularly in rural and remote areas” said Marcus Sandmann, CEO of HeartKids.
“With very extensive onboarding processes, we needed a solution that was going to enable us to scale sustainably including the ability to screen and onboard our volunteers more seamlessly. Using Rosterfy, we aim to bring on 50 new trained volunteers in the first year who will be equipped to support families and individuals within their communities.”
Australia’s vast geography presents unique challenges in delivering support services, making volunteer engagement critical to HeartKids’ success. By leveraging Rosterfy’s technology, HeartKids will create a structured and scalable volunteer workforce that extends beyond paid staff, that focuses on volunteers supplementing and enhancing community engagement and service delivery.
“Rosterfy stood out in our market scan for both its scalability and affordability,” Marcus continued. “Its automation capabilities, particularly in onboarding, will allow us to streamline our operations, mitigate risk and ensure a seamless experience for our volunteers. Previously, we relied on a combination of manual systems and Salesforce, which limited our ability to scale effectively. Rosterfy changes that equation for us.”
The implementation of Rosterfy aligns with HeartKids’ broader strategy, which focuses on maintaining core hospital care and community services, embracing digitisation, and growing its volunteer workforce. The introduction of Rosterfy will serve as a game-changer, strengthening volunteer engagement and ensuring formalised communication and recognition for HeartKids’ dedicated volunteers.
“Our volunteer workforce is crucial to our mission. Formalising their engagement through Rosterfy ensures they will receive the communication, support, and acknowledgment they deserve,” Marcus added. “With a mix of fundraising, event, and peer-to-peer volunteers, Rosterfy will enable us to create a more connected and empowered volunteer community.”
HeartKids and Rosterfy are excited about the transformative potential of this partnership and look forward to expanding their impact across Australia.
