Included in the report

For the second year running, we surveyed hundreds of volunteer managers across the UK to find out what’s really happening on the ground. This year’s findings are both encouraging and revealing. Recruitment is easing for the first time in two years, volunteer numbers are growing, and volunteer management is gaining visibility as a profession in its own right.

But beneath the optimism sits a clear dividing line. The organisations delivering the best volunteer experiences share one thing in common: connected, integrated systems that let them understand how volunteers interact with the whole organisation. We’ve called this year’s report “Connected for Impact” because the data shows clearly that the organisations getting the most from their volunteers are the most joined-up, in their systems, their strategy and their teams.

The report also explores the size-specific challenges facing volunteer managers today, and what the early adoption of AI really looks like across the sector.
