Corporate Volunteering
1,000 volunteers
Energia Group has long committed to supporting charities and local causes through staff volunteering. With around 1,100 employees each employee is eligible to volunteer twice a year the company recognised the need for a central, efficient system to manage its volunteering programme.
Before implementing a new solution, Energia Group managed its employee volunteering programme manually. That manual process was “challenging and time-consuming,” making it difficult to scale participation or track involvement efficiently across the company.
"We were looking for a simple but effective solution to help us to manage our staff volunteering. We liked that Rosterfy is a simple platform - it’s easy for all of us to use – from publishing opportunities, to managing bookings and then reporting, Rosterfy has delivered on our expectations.”
Energia Group partnered with Rosterfy, selecting it after reviewing several options because the platform offered ease of use, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Through Rosterfy, employees gained a custom volunteer portal: a single place to browse upcoming shifts, track volunteer hours, and receive updates. Sign-on was simplified, eliminating the need for cumbersome internal communications or manual updates. The platform’s check-in / check-out functionality also enabled automatic tracking of volunteer hours, improving data accuracy and reporting.
Implementation was supported by Rosterfy’s team, with weekly training sessions and responsive help-desk support enabling Energia Group to build internal expertise quickly. “Everyone is finding it really straightforward to use … The staff find it a huge improvement. They love being able to see all of the opportunities in one place, it’s been going really well, really positive.”
From a management perspective, the shift from manual counting to automated tracking resulted in more accurate, professional data, saving time and boosting confidence in reporting.
Because of improved visibility and ease of access, participation and engagement in volunteering opportunities have increased. Employees are more aware of what’s available, and many new volunteers have come forward. Looking ahead, Energia Group plans to expand its programme further and take advantage of ongoing innovations in the Rosterfy platform, allowing the team to focus less on logistics and more on sourcing meaningful volunteer opportunities.
