Elena Totino

Elena Totino is Risk and Compliance Manager at Carey Baptist Grammar School in Melbourne, where she helps the school meet its child safety, regulatory and compliance obligations. She is also Director and Principal Lawyer of Safety Quality & Care Legal Services, which supports individuals and organisations that provide services, programs, facilities and activities to children, young people and other vulnerable people. She regularly presents on the reforms reshaping compliance expectations across the education and care sector.

Elena brings experience from across the regulators and systems that schools work within. She was Senior Legal Adviser at Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools and served as Acting General Manager, Reportable Conduct. Before that, she helped establish Victoria's new Social Services Regulator at the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. She also spent almost five years at the Victorian Institute of Teaching, most recently as Legal Manager (Regulation), and was Head of Legal and a founding member of ChildAware Technology. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce from Monash University.
