CLIENT ANNOUNCEMENT

National Literacy Trust Selects Rosterfy to Streamline Volunteer Management

National Literacy Trust partners with Rosterfy to transform volunteer management, strengthen impact reporting, and empower Literacy Champions nationwide.

Rosterfy is proud to welcome the National Literacy Trust to our growing community of organisations using our platform to transform the volunteer experience.

The National Literacy Trust is a charity that empowers children, young people, and adults with the literacy skills they need to succeed. Their work spans schools, community spaces, and the criminal justice system. Volunteers, known as ‘Literacy Champions’, play a vital role in creating change at a local level.

“We have over 1,500 volunteers across the UK. We started our volunteer programme in 2017 in Bradford and have since expanded to many areas. We also support self-led volunteers in other communities, because there is a motivation to support literacy all over the UK,” explained Olivia Crewe, Project Manager at the National Literacy Trust.

Deeply embedded in the communities they serve, volunteers raise awareness and deliver activities to support literacy. From storytelling sessions in libraries and community centres, to setting up local community bookshelves, running reading groups, and distributing books and resources, each volunteer is a champion for literacy.

Why Rosterfy?

Until now, volunteer management for the National Literacy Trust has relied on separate spreadsheets across each of the 21 communities, making central reporting time-consuming and resource heavy. This also limited the ability to quickly provide data for funders and internal reporting.

“Every time we need information, we’d have to ask local staff or go in to spreadsheets ourselves which can slow things down. What we’re really looking forward to with Rosterfy is being able to run reports centrally, said Olivia.

After reviewing multiple volunteer management platforms, Rosterfy stood out for its functionality, Salesforce integration, and the ability to accommodate multiple administrators managing different groups of volunteers.

Rosterfy’s functionality was exactly what we were looking for. The Salesforce integration was vital, as was the ability to have different staff members as admins across all 21 areas. Not every platform could handle that,”

"The Rosterfy team is really friendly and knowledgeable. They’ve been great at talking us through what’s possible," Olivia added.

Investing in the Volunteer Experience

For staff at the National Literacy Trust, the move to Rosterfy means streamlined processes, faster reporting, and more time to focus on impact.

“Everyone is excited as we can see this is going to save us time,” said Olivia. “For our volunteers, it’s really nice to be able to see their achievements - something they’ve never had before - and to know what’s coming up, all in one centralised space.

Rosterfy's mobile app enables volunteers to log on anytime to track their hours, view achievements, browse upcoming opportunities, and access resources in one central place. Digital badges will celebrate milestones - whether for hours volunteered, activities completed, or training attended - helping volunteers feel even more valued and connected.

With Rosterfy in place, The National Literacy Trust is set for an exciting new chapter - saving staff time, strengthening volunteer engagement, and furthering their mission to champion literacy across the UK.
