Shift Patterns

The Shift Patterns module allows you to build a "pattern" of shifts, which can then be used as a template to create shifts in bulk across a given timeframe. For example, you may need to create a 6 week roster that consists of shifts that occur every Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 2pm-4pm, as well as Saturday shifts from 9am-2pm.

Before you can create a Shift Pattern, you first need to create your Shift Template.

Shift Templates

To Create a Shift Template, follow the below simply steps:

  1. In the Admin Console, navigate to Events > Shifts.
  2. In the Templates tab, click Create.

  3. Add a Name for the template and select a Shift Type from the dropdown, if applicable.
  4. Click Save, then navigate to the Shift Settings tab that has now appeared.

  5. Here you can set up all the details of the Shifts, along with whether these details can be changed on creation. Change any and all settings that suit your shift requirements.

  6. Once finished, click Save.

To create a Shift Pattern:

  1. Navigate to the Events > Shift Patterns from the left-side menu.
  2. Click Create.

  3. Give your Shift Pattern a name. (make sure it is something that you can easily identify)

  4. Click Save, then navigate to the Repetition tab that has now appeared.

  5. Select the Type, either Offset or Days, on the General tab. This is where you set the rules for the pattern.

Further fields will be displayed after you make your selection. Complete all required fields.

  6. Navigate to the Demand tab, and select Override Demand, if required. (i.e. Do you need to allow more people to be added to this shift template?)
  7. Press Submit, once complete.

Creating Shifts using a Shift Pattern

Follow these simple steps to create shifts, using your Shift Patterns.

  1. In the Admin Console, navigate to Events > Events. Locate or search for the required event and click View Shifts.

  2. Click Actions > Create Shifts from Pattern.
  3. Select the desired Shift Pattern from the drop down menu, and select the start and end date and time of the pattern. Select whether these shifts are Linked Shifts, and nominate the Demand.
  4. Click Submit.

Note: It is crucial that your Date & Time settings are set outside the timings of your first and last shifts. If you specify a start and/or end date that coincides with any of your scheduled shifts, the system will omit it from the import process.

Once you have imported your shift pattern, be sure to verify the imported shifts.
